At Life Change Care Limited, we are all too aware of the issues around attachment for the children in our care. As providers of trauma-informed care, we are mindful of the effects of attachment on people’s lives. We use this awareness to inform the way we care for our children.
All of our care team receive comprehensive training in trauma-informed care and attachment which is reinforced by clinical supervisions provided by JSA Psychotherapy Limited.
Our care team learn about attachment from day one. Each team member is given a set of three excellent books written by Sir John Timpson.
The three books have been very well written and are most accessible. The style appeals to carers and children alike. Not only does each team member receive a set of these books during their induction, but they have also been given to the children too.
What is Attachment?
Attachment refers to a relationship bond between a child and their primary caregiver. This bond is formed in their early years and has a long-term impact on a child’s sense of self, development, and growth. Attachment also has an impact on their future relationships with others.

A Guide to Attachment was written to help people understand attachment and the difficulties that poor attachment can bring.
This book is followed by two other books – How To Create A Positive Future and Looking After Looked After Children.
How To Create A Positive Future
This book offers tips and advice on how to help create a positive future despite having a difficult start in life.
Looking After Looked After Children
This book focuses on how the more carers know about the children in their care, the less surprised they will be by some of their challenging behaviour, and the better equipped they will be to help them.
